Dr. Manish Dwivedi, PhD

      Currently Assistant Professor in Institute of Biotechnology, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, India and awarded with prestigious DST-INSPIRE Faculty by Government of India in 2017. Dr. Dwivedi has extensive experience in international research labs. He gained his doctoral degree from University of Allahabad, India. During his Post-doctoral research, he has got awarded with international PBC-Post-Doctoral fellowship by Israel, Planning & Budget committee of Higher Education during which he has worked on structure function relationship of NhaA Na+/H+ antiporter, an integral membrane protein which exchanges Na+/H+ across the cytoplasmic membrane. He has also got travel awards to attend international conferences/ meetings by DST, New Delhi and EMBO, Germany.

             His research group is basically focused to structural and functional characterization of membrane proteins, currently working on Na+/H+ Antiporter, NhaA in closed collaboration with Prof. Etana Padan, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. Major findings have been published in high impact journals like Nature group, JBC, JMB etc. Dr. M. Dwivedi was also an important participant in the collaboration with Prof. K. Fendler (Max-Planck in Biophysics Frankfurt Germany) and Prof. Assaf Friedler, Institute of Chemistry, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. He is very actively serving as member of Editorial Board of International journal of Biochemistry, Biophysics and molecular biology (IJBBMB), USA and also as members of different international and national academic/ research communities.

He is also a Bentham Science Ambassador, India chapter (Bentham Science Publication).

 

My lab is currently focusing on following aspects of Sodium-Proton transporter in E.coli.

 

i. Understanding structural and Functional underpinnings of Ec-NhaA antiporters  and its relevance in study of Human Na+/ H+ transport, dysfunction associated with Human diseases such as essential hypertension, heart problems etc.

ii. Drug designing to target clinically important transporters.
